I have recently been using an Arduino with a PIR sensor to detect motion/presence for an interactive art installation. It isn't very accurate though (sometimes it detects movement when there is none and vice versa). I've been told the best way to improve the accuracy is to use a Kinect instead, however I'm finding it difficult to work out how to retrieve simple yes/no information. My installation in simplest terms draws a black line when motion is detected, and a white line when it is not - all I need to say to the Kinect is "is there a person in the room?" and retrieve a yes/no answer from it. I don't need to track people or want to use their movement for anything, I just need to know if there are people present.
Does anybody have any examples of this?
